We’re pretty sure Ode tension hoops are the only production tension hoops in the history of banjos to be precision-milled out of a solid piece of brass stock. This process results in a tension hoop that’s incredibly, flat, and round, with nearly perfect notch spacing, and no weld marks. Compare this to traditional “roll & weld” hoops which are usually almost always slightly out of level, out of round, or with notches that are just a tad off of position.

We must confess, a banjo almost does not deserve this level of precision. However, at the Ode shop, we believe that perfectly straight bracket hooks, and evenly tensioned brackets, is something to strive for.

Our 12″ hoops features 26 notches, angled at 70 degrees, which match both our Vintage and Polished bracket hooks nicely.
